The purpose of this study was to assess the magnitude and orientation of the principal horizontal stresses and the mechanical properties of the Montney and Doig reservoirs in order to facilitate effective well stimulations. These properties were then used to define possible barriers to hydraulic fractures, the likely mode of rock failure during stimulation, and to determine the probable nature of the fracture pattern generated.
