STUDY IN PROGRESS. Is the Clearwater going to be the next Big Oil Play in the WCSB? Already sprinkled across a massive 400 km swath running from Jarvie through Marten Hills to Golden, the industry has quietly put over 1,100 laterals into the play that are producing over 16,000 bopd. CDL is working on a multi-client hydrodynamic study to advance the understanding, reduce the risk and provide perspective on new exploration fairways of this rapidly emerging play. Numerous unknowns impact the economics of the play including:

  • Trapping mechanism, purely stratigraphic or pervasive oil at updip edge of the Deep Basin
  • Oil API and viscosity distribution and their relationship to:
    • Surface recharge
    • Formation water chemistry
    • Temperature
    • Hydrodynamics
  • Position of optimal reservoir development in each depositional cycle

CDL Hydrodynamics can provide fresh insights in the Clearwater play. Download the brochure below or contact us before November 15 for an early-bird advantage.
