PROPOSED ATLAS. NOW MARKETING. As the federal carbon tax plans escalate and environmental, social and governance policies (ESG) continue to be a focus for investors Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) has rapidly emerged as an important part of business models for industrial emitters. Alberta is ideally situated to play a prominent role in CCUS moving forward with an abundance of saline aquifers and depleted oil and gas pools. The Alberta Carbon Sequestration and Storage Atlas will leverage the technical expertise at CDL in order to evaluate the CO2 storage capacity of saline aquifers and hydrocarbon pools, assess EOR opportunities, complete risk analysis and estimate injection rate capacity. The Atlas will allow companies to rapidly assess potential CCUS opportunities near their emission sources and take direct action towards the new economic realities of a low carbon future.
